Oy.

I had a whole post mostly written this morning that I planned to publish tonight, but given the horrific events of the day, it seems inappropriate to try to act like all is well and life is carrying on as normal.  Even though the shooting in Connecticut hasn't affected me directly, it's hard not to be deeply affected by this. I can't even begin to wrap my brain around it.

This article in The Onion pretty much sums up how I feel.
I'm neither a detective nor a psychiatrist, so I won't speculate as to why the gunman did what he did. And although I have (very) strong views on the matter of gun control, this isn't the time or the place for politics.

But I can pray, and pray some more, for the families of those who were killed. I can hold the community that is surely reeling from its losses in my heart. I can be thankful that my friends and loved ones, and their own adorable children, are safe and sound tonight.

May we all support, care for, and uplift each other in times of need.  This quote from Mr. Rogers has been making the rounds on my Facebook feed, and it's incredibly apropos:
