Even though I'm a wee bit late to the party here, I decided to join in the fun for Marvelous in My Monday by Healthy Diva Eats.
Today's theme? The fact that I'm easily amused. I've been easily amused ever since I was a little kid: I get inordinately excited about really little things, and I've been known to bound out of bed early in the morning, all excited about the prospect of using the new body wash I bought the day before.
It's the little things, folks.
Today, I realized just how much I haven't changed in this respect.
I'm giddy over three of the most ludicrously mundane things ever: pajama pants, laundry detergent, and coffee creamer.
I'm not making this up.
First,
the PJs: I have a pair of holiday pajama pants that only come out once a
year, and darned if I don't get super excited every December when I
triumphantly pull them from the bottom of my dresser drawer, wave them
around like I just won the world's most epic game of capture the flag,
and bounce around saying "It's time for the Christmas pajama pants!" (In case I've never mentioned it before, in many respects I'm not all that different from a small child.)
Second,
the laundry detergent. We ran out of our usual regular Tide this
weekend, and knowing how much Brandon loathes Costco, I decided to save
him the misery of a Costco run and just pick up a bottle at Walgreen's.
They happened to have some with Downy in it, and OH MY EFFING GOD. I
wanted to snuggle with my gym clothes after using it, which is really
saying something. Everything is so soft! And it smells so lovely!
Laundry-induced bliss seizure!
(Seriously, self? Laundry-induced bliss seizure? Who in their right mind gets this excited about detergent?)

Third,
coffee creamer. Did you know that Coffee Mate makes peppermint
mocha-flavored creamer? Me neither.
I. Am. Amazed.
I know non-dairy
creamer is one of the crappiest, unhealthiest substances on planet
Earth, but a girl's gotta have her vices. And holy crap, this stuff is
delicious. My morning coffee is now a winter wonderland.
The one non-mundane thing that has me absolutely
thrilled? My Broncos. My beloved, long-suffering Broncos, who yesterday
clinched the AFC West Division Title. I may be a displaced sports fan,
and I might not be able to watch many of the games out here on the East
Coast, but things look good for the men of the Orange Crush!

Anyways, despite my unhealthy-yet-delicious coffee
creamer, I'm staying on track with my goal to not gain weight during the
holidays. I went for a long run with my girl Holly on Saturday
morning, and it was fabulous. We ran through Georgetown, which is one of
my favorite neighborhoods in DC -- I think I've read too many
historical fiction novels, because whenever I run past 200-year-old
colonial houses, I start wondering what life was like when they were
built, who'd lived in them, what they did, and what their stories
might've been.
Yesterday I took a rest day, and today I was back in
the gym with 30 minutes on the elliptical and a quick 1.2 miles on the
treadmill (at a 9:05/mile pace). Tomorrow is strength training day --
it'll be time to bust a move with my weights and Jackie Warner DVD!
Hope everyone is having an awesome Monday -- between
seeing a gorgeous sunrise while at the gym this morning and actually
getting a seat on the Metro during my commute into the city (be still,
my heart!), it proved to be a lovely day.
Hello me, it's nice to meet you ;) Haha I love the theme you took for today's marvelous monday, since I am also easily amused...and I want that tide...and coffee creamers are one of the best vices ever!
ReplyDeleteOh and those pj pants are AWESOME!!! Must invest in my own special christmas jammies at once!
DeleteLOL - I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets so excited about stuff like this! And the Christmas jammies came from Old Navy - I think they generally do a decent job of stocking seasonal stuff like that. :)
